Fifield Farms is a small breeding facility with two brood
mares. The fact that we are small enables us to give
individual attention to each horse. The foals are born on
the farm and handled from birth. Special care and nutrition
helps them develop mentally as well as physically. They
stay with their dam at least six months or more and are
turned out with other mares and foals. After weaning, they
have daily turnouts and are buddied up and rotated through
different pastures. With these daily turnouts they learn
from their interaction with other horses, thus halter
breaking begins early. They are started under saddle at age
four with extensive ground work prior to their first ride.
We
tailor our training program to fit each individual horse,
taking into consideration their mental as well as physical
development. As their training progresses, horses will
demonstrate a talent and ability in either Jumping or
Dressage. We build on their natural in-bred talents to
take them in either direction.

The
Dutch Warmblood Horse is famous for its good temperament and
athletic ability. Through years of careful selection and
high standards in their breeding system, the Dutch have
brought their horses to top of the International scene. The
KWPN (Royal Dutch Warmblood) has one of the strictest
selection and evaluation processes. The KWPN-NA (KWPN of
North America) started in 1983 as the NAWPN and has been
striving to bring the standard of the North American Dutch
Horse in-line with all other Dutch horses.
Breeder selection is available through the Dutch System's
valuable tools such as the linear score sheet, breeding index,
and supplementary information. The small breeder is able to
select the best stallion cross for their mare on the
criteria of bloodline, conformation, movement, temperament
and performance. Through the use of frozen semen, breeders
are allowed access to internationally recognized and
approved stallions from the Netherlands as well as the
United States.
